UK faith leaders in dialogue about scripture and violence

The Scripture & Violence Project has begun partnering with Faith in Leadership, an organization that brings together a diverse range of faith leaders from across the UK for dialogue and training opportunities. A first online event for Faith in Leadership members, made up of faith leaders from Jewish, Christian, and Muslim communities, was held on 2 June 2021. Participants reported that the event helped them feel more comfortable engaging with challenging scriptural passages from their own tradition, and said that they gained a clearer understanding of how members of other faith communities interpret their own sacred texts. Participants also said they now feel better equipped to respond to problematic statements that might be made about other people’s religious traditions.
